"If ANYTHING is certain, it is that NOTHING is certain" - ...um...well whilst this may hold true in most cases in life, there are two things that you can always count on as a bettor (and your bookie will confirm this):
a)You will have winning streaks (nice) and b)You will have losing streaks (not so nice)
So what separates the successful bettor (hopefully You) from the losing one? How you interpret and subsequently act upon these streaks...and it's not easy, so here are a few tips:
1. Don't necessarily change your betting strategy drastically based on four or five (positive or negative) consecutive results. Remember that, strategically, these short term streaks are completely normal in any long-term distribution of events.
2. So you're winning: - first of all, you're not a genius (although you might be ), these things happen...just remember that PATIENCE is a virtue, so do your homework and don't take short cuts. Also, if patience is a virtue, then so is HUMILITY - meaning: don't allow your ego to cloud your judgement or affect your strategy by rushing or moving a bet.
3. Right you're losing (sigh): - again these things happen, and no, you're not cursed. Exercise patience and a positive attitude and opportunities will arise in due time. Keep in mind that your emotions tend to influence your wagering actions so try to remain a winner on the inside!
From horse racing or sports betting to blackjack or online poker, please remember that, yes, the idea is to win (and to win big baby!) but most important, you must have fun while playing! Always remember that:
-
Gambling is a form of entertainment. It is not a way to get rich quickly and pay off your debts.
-
Gambling is a game of chance. There are no formulas that guarantee winnings.
-
Make sure that the decision to gamble is your choice.
-
Never try to chase your losses.
-
Check the amounts you spend on a regular basis in the Cashier.
-
Make sure you know the rules of the games you play.
Like many things, what is enjoyable in moderation can be disastrous in excess.
Soooo, compare the odds or have that flutter now.
